Participation at UNFCCC COP22/CMP12/CMA1

The 22nd session of the Conference of the Parties, the 12th session of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol, and the 1st session of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Paris Agreement (COP22/CMP12/CMA1) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) were held from 7th November through 18th December 2016 in Marrakech, Morocco. Satellite Observation Center, NIES, exhibited the achievements by GOSAT and the latest development status of GOSAT-2 to participatants. An animation of global distributions of carbon dioxide concentration based on the GOSAT L4B dataset, was showed on a DajikEarth at Japan Pavilion. Visitors took photos and admired the reality exhibition technology. Head of Satellite Observation Center, Tsuneo Matsunaga, delivered a speech under the title of How to Use Satellite GHG Concentration Data for Verification of GHG Emissions Inventories in the side event of Efforts to Use Satellite Data in IPCC Guidelines for National GHG Inventories, which was held on 14th November at Japan Pavilion. The participants showed great interest in the theme and discussed the need for cooperation.
